How to adopt a Young at Heart dog:

There is nothing sweeter than a senior dog getting a second chance and a happily ever after with a family who loves him or her with their whole hearts. To ensure a successful adoption, we work with you to find the right dog to match your lifestyle and needs.

To begin the adoption process:

  1. Complete an application. The approval process can take up to 3 days during a normal work week.
  2. Once your application is approved, you'll hear from the adoption team and make an appointment to meet the dog(s) you are interested in.
  3. If the meeting goes well and all parties feel it's a good match, complete the adoption paperwork and welcome your new family member!

If you see a dog on our website or meet one at an adoption event that you are interested in, please complete our online adoption application. We will contact you once your application has been processed. Submitting an application does not guarantee that you can adopt the pet you are interested in. Out of state adopters are welcome to apply, however you must come here to visit with the pet you are interested in, as we do not ship our beloved senior pets.

Young at Heart charges an adoption fee of $200 for each dog that helps to cover spay/neuter surgery, shots, and other medical and general care given before the dog is made available for adoption. All of our adoptions come with a built-in two week trial period with a money back guarantee. Adopters age 65 or older receive 50% off their adoption fee.
