Helping Struggling Families During "Ruff" Times™

Young at Heart started Nina's Pet Food Pantry in 2009 with the help of a gift from the Weiner family. Named after their beloved dog, Nina, whose favorite word was "pantry", this program has helped hundreds of local families keep their pets when feeding them is a struggle. After speaking with local food pantries, it was a surprise to learn that none kept pet food for their clients, and so we began to solve that issue by stocking dog and cat food for the pantry's clients.

How can I apply to use the pantry program?

In 2016, Nina's Pet Food Pantry is working with Our House of Hope Pet Food Pantry to expand services to Lake County Families. Because Young at Heart does not yet have a facility, pet food is distributed through Our House of Hope Pet Food Pantry to those clients who have completed their application process to prove need. If you live in Lake County, IL and are in need of food pantry assistance, please contact Our House of Hope Pet Food Pantry. We also provide pet food items to families within the Palatine Township IL boundaries via the Palatine Township Food Pantry. Palatine residents, please contact Palatine Township food pantry

If you do not qualify for either of these food pantry programs, please research the options below.
