Young at Heart Named a 2018 Clarke “One for Tomorrow” Grant Recipient!
Young at Heart Pet Rescue has been named a 2018 recipient of the Clarke “One for Tomorrow” grant program, which recognizes and supports non-profit organizations that are striving to restore and/or preserve the environment, wildlife and food production.
Clarke is a St. Charles, IL- based company that focuses on public health mosquito control & aquatics services. Nominated by Clarke employees as an organization that shares Clarke’s values and passion for the planet, Young at Heart is one of seven organizations internationally that has received a one-time grant of $19,570 to advance its organizational mission and programming.
Young at Heart is an animal welfare organization dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of senior dogs and cats. Their mission is to provide senior dogs and cats with a safe haven to ensure they live with comfort, compassion, and companionship in their golden years. Based in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, the organization only rescues and adopts out dogs and cats over the age of seven years, placing hundreds of senior pets into loving homes each year since its founding in 2005. The organization currently works with foster homes to house their animals, but will soon be expanding to a brick and mortar adoption center just for senior dogs and cats in Woodstock, IL.
“We are so honored and thrilled to receive this grant from Clarke. “ says Executive Director, Dawn Kemper. “The One for Tomorrow grant will provide much needed funds to create a safe and secure outdoor play area for the senior dogs to enjoy at the new adoption center.”
“The “One for Tomorrow” grant concept starts and ends with our coworkers,” said J. Lyell Clarke, CEO of Clarke. “The nominations, the voting – all of it culminates with the men and women of Clarke selecting nonprofits in the communities where we serve that are caring for people, the planet, and wildlife. This program is an important part of Clarke’s ongoing commitment to making communities more livable, safe and comfortable, and we’re proud to support the excellent work of Young at Heart.”
Since 2015, one percent of revenues from Clarke’s next-generation products and services have been allocated to funding “One for Tomorrow” grants, dividing the funds equally across Clarke’s sales regions.
On August 25th, 2018 Young at Heart was presented with a $19,570 award to construct dog play areas at Young at Heart’s new adoption center for senior pets. After the check presentation, Executive Director and founder of Young at Heart, Dawn Kemper, gave Clarke representatives a tour of the facilities.
"All of us at Young at Heart look forward to sharing the progress of the outdoor dog areas with Clarke and all of their employees that made this grant possible." says Kemper. "We are so incredibly grateful for this amazing opportunity!"
