Young at Heart's sanctuary dogs are permanent residents due to complex medical or behavioral needs and are not available for adoption.

Nancy is a beautiful girl who was rescued from an overcrowded shelter where she was going to be euthanized due to her age. She came to Young at Heart instead, where we discovered she had a heart defect and chronic antibiotic-resistant skin and ear infections. We had her heart defect corrected at Purdue University, and now have her ear and skin infections under control with careful monitoring. However, it is a lifelong battle that requires careful monitoring, so sweet Nancy is a part of our permanent resident sanctuary program. She gets all the love she craves from her sanctuary family while all the veterinary care she requires is provided by Young at Heart.
